The New look Dublin Avengers men’s team looked to improve on their 2-1 record in preseason play following on from the Dublin Cup. They opened the day slowly falling 2-1 down at half time to the Dublin Bay Prawns before scoring 8 unanswered goals in the second half and marching to a 9-2 win over their Dublin rivals. Daniel Jones as stellar in nets and James Hearn, Calvin Craig, Sean Gibson, Dexter Blanc all stepped up offensively for the Avengers win.
The second game of the day again saw the Avengers getting out to a slow start and saw a tough UCD team march out to a 4-1 half time lead. UCD continued into the second half and despite a spirited late flourish from the Avengers, our boys fell for the second time to UCD this fall by a core of 8-4.
The Ard’s Cup draw was made for the November 2nd Game day and the Avengers have drawn NUIG and UCD2 in Round One of the Ard’s Cup which will be played on November 2nd in Galway. This means that the boys will play Prawns and UCD1 in Round two of the Ard’s Cup on November 24th which, will be held in Newtownard’s Co. Down.
