SWNT Final Prep Underway

Ireland's Senior Women's National Team headed to Bryant University for its final prep before boarding the plane to Japan.

The Ireland Senior Women's National Team has completed its final preparations before departing for the Nissin Foods 2026 World Lacrosse Women's Championship in Tokyo.

The championship runs from 24 July to 2 August. Sixteen nations are drawn across four pools. Ireland sits in Pool A alongside the United States, the Haudenosaunee Nationals and Chinese Taipei.

Ireland open against the United States on Saturday 25 July at 09:00 local time, on Field 1 at Oi Stadium. It is a demanding first assignment. The United States arrive as the reigning field champions, and they begin the defence of that title against Ireland.

Preparation has been led by head coach Eileen Ferry, who returns to the international stage having guided Ireland teams through previous world and European cycles.

Speaking during the team's training camp, Ferry said:

"This year, serving as the head coach with such a wonderful staff and team has just been great, and I'm excited to get things going here at training camp."

She was clear about the group's mindset heading into a strong pool.

"We're in a great pool, and there are other teams in our same position where we're there to compete and to win."

The group now turns its focus to the journey east, and to the opening whistle in Tokyo.
